The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”   Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear Poem Reader,

Welcome to the Poetry/Lyrics section of my website!

I tend to think of my poems as sketches of lyrics for music that is constantly playing in my mind; I was raised playing piano, and in my high school years I was in a small rock band.

Sometimes, when I hear an instrumental piece on the radio, I begin to scribble down thoughts that flow with the music and often they become what you will read here, and other times I will hear a melody in my head, and the same process occurs. Sometimes a line or thought will pop up out of nowhere and I will sketch something around that, but they are all from a real and emotional place inside of me.

I hope you enjoy them!
